It must be very difficult for 'Hope Not Hate' to maintain their position when it comes to Mr Farage. Stars.

I find it amusing that some are so annoyed by their inability to refute what Farage says that, in frustration, they just accuse him of mindless hate.
I have never heard Farage use the kind of vitriolic abuse towards anyone which the trendy-lefties routinely heap on anyone suspected of being an evil, disgusting, wicked ... Aaaagh! ... Tory!

Unless Farage backs up his assertion that Hope not Hate pursues 'violent and very undemocratic means' I guess you've got at least one example, Titus. Personally I hadn't heard of them until Jo Cox was murdered and am open minded. He said it, he should now justify it.

Nigel Farage on mindless hate:
"Well, of course, he would know more about extremists than me, Mr Cox, he backs organisations like Hope Not Hate, who masquerade as being lovely and peaceful but actually pursue violent and very undemocratic means"
This, to a man who's wife was brutally murdered by an extremist. I don't think Farage is persuading many nowadays, apart from a few racist pricks who think he's a demi-god and pathetically try to justify their own bigotry rather than think & read facts

Any friend of Trump...'nuff said.

I suppose I could have written something based on my supposed inability to refute what Farage says, but it might not have been funny. At least my piece amused you.

Isn't that a validation of Titus' viewpoint?

Only if you are desperate, or unable to to read. BraveNM's 'inability to refute' doesn't mean automatically that Farage is correct, or that he has just accused him of mindless hate. BNM has just written a line of satire (5* from me, btw). What we really need is for Farage to provide some evidence to substantiate his claim, or withdraw it with apologies, or face court so it can be determined legally.
We seem, with Trump and Farage, to have moved from the vacuous engineered 'soundbite' that has predominated politics for the last 20 years or so to legitimising public bar opinions. While we all (certainly I) have voiced unsubstantiated opinions at work, in the pub or on public forums like this that nobody of consequence reads and apart from potentially offending the odd person the greatest risk is fisticuffs in the pub car park. What Farage and Trump are doing is elevating this to making assertions in the public sphere that really they should be able to substantiate. Trump is almost untouchable now, legally, but Farage still has to answer to the law, so I hope the lawsuit pans out - make him put up or shut up.

It would be good to see him in court trying to defend the indefensible.
I can’t make up my mind about Farage. Does he believe the old adage ‘there’s no such thing as bad publicity’ and he therefore calculatingly says outrageous things that are guaranteed to get him in the news? Or is he just a twat?

Could say exactly the same about Chump.

Oh dear! I had hoped in my absence that NB would have grown up a bit from the old name-calling and in-fighting, but it seems some things never change!
Why not concentrate on producing humorous articles and headlines? There's already too many bad tempered rants on 99% of social media!

Welcome to anti-social media...
Anyway, how is your Grandad these days? Still ranting and raving about the Gentiles?

Apparently Mark Steel - presumably a right wing comedian - said:
men whose wives were murdered should stop whining, and get on with selling dresses on eBay
seems a tad on the callous side to me admittedly

Ok I confess the above was a wind up, but when researching the above story I came across this by Thomas Paine:
‘He that would make his own liberty secure must guard even his enemy from oppression: for if he violates this duty, he establishes a precedent that will reach unto himself.’
Food for though eh?

In similar vein, I'm still waiting for the much mooted Katie Hopkins v Ellie Goulding boxing match. When will people be held accountable for their Twitter commitments, eh?

Is it on video?

I'll donate a couple of horseshoes for Ms. Goulding

"We seem, with Trump and Farage, to have moved from the vacuous engineered 'soundbite' that has predominated politics for the last 20 years or so to legitimising public bar opinions."
Human nature hasn't changed. All that has changed is the technology under which the reach of one's voice is now global.

Fair point. At least with Twitter, usually no-one is taking any notice.

Yep, it's all soundbites nowadays, where everyone knows everything because they've read 140 characters full of hashtags typed by a chimp
It's not even knowledge, and it's a very long way from wisdom
