Conditions in the nations biggest battery chicken sheds were slammed today by the Daily Mail, after its research revealed that chickens enjoy both warmth and shelter. The paper condemned the conditions as 'cushier than free range' and said that the cages offered 'absolutely no deterrent whatsoever' to the nation's chickens.
The paper claims to have interviewed current inmates who said that the cages were 'pretty easy time', and cited a lack of predators and regular food supplies as the main advantages over their previous 'feral' existence.
One inmate commented: 'People say it's rough inside, but quite frankly, it's a lot better than getting eaten by a fox. But hang on a minute...'
