I have developed a simple, low-stress technique for responding to the posts I read here on NewsBiscuit.
If a post makes me laugh, I award it stars.
If it doesn't, I don't.
If, occasionally, a post strikes me as outstandingly un-funny, tedious, unintelligible, repetitious, derivative or offensive (or, to use the splendid phrases coined by one NB regular, is "a pile of rambling bollocks"), I may award it the distinction one star, and carefully say why when I do so.
I rarely look to see who actually submitted any post before assessing my response to it. I assess the posts, not the posters, and I think readers may have noted that I rarely consistently favour (or criticise) any particular individual.
If you want me to give you stars, submit good posts. If you want to be criticised, submit crap ones. Simple enough!
