Christ, if I wrote using the voice in my head then every so often phrases such as "that looks flammable" and "that plastic gives of nice colours when set aflame" would disrupt the overall flow of my contributions. A fair number of serious meetings are successfully ended with agreement to my motion that we burn things.

Ta,

I like that too: I've always thought F1 is basically pretty childish- certainly the majority of the fans I've met seem to be wowed by things that go very fast in a very noisy manner, just like excitable seven year olds.

I have a secret feeling that all of the stuff about tyre wear, fuel load and driving strategy is just lies and bullshit designed to obfuscate the zoom!-y, ROAR!-Y bit that you just know gives them serious wood.

Also: I had to go meeting and be all serious about important, difficult things, so I needed to try and get to a punchline.

Also: I have just realised I wrote the piece like the voice in my head talks. I think this is a worrying development

I very much liked the headline which seems like explaining the concept to a child. was thinking that continuing the story in that fashion could work? e.g
Alonso, who is from abroad, managed to keep his fast car on the road instead of driving it on the grass. Some of the other racing drivers drove drove their cars outside of the lines of the road and this made them feel sad because they would not win the race.

or something...

This weekend's Grand Prix was won by Ferdinand Alonso, who was in the quickest car.
The race was a fantastic triumph for Ferrari, who had recently spent more money than other manufacturers in making their car go very very fast.

British hopes were dashed when Jenson Button, of Monte Carlo, and Lewis Hamilton, of Switzerland, failed to be driving cars that were faster than Alonso's one. Lots of middle aged men were disappointed by Button and Hamilton's placing, saying that it was a shame they hadn't been given lots more money and faster cars to drive around in.

Motorsports experts say they "fully expect" the fastest car, which is made by Ferrari, to continue to do quite well over the rest of the season, with only occasional lapses when it either crashes or breaks down, giving the driver of the next fastest car a chance to win.

The Grand Prix was watched by over a billion people worldwide, much to the astonishment of their wives, who couldn't understand the appeal, "unless it's something to do with avoiding doing the gardening that they promised to do".
