Soldiers from many regiments marched through Kandahar today to raise awareness and money for motorcyclists.
Sgt. Bob Private of the Royal Engineers said today "We want the public to know that last year over 600 motorcyclists died on British roads, that is more 500 more than British Forces in Afghanistan each year. They are out there, day after day, risking their lives for no other reason than they can. They put themselves in danger in all weather, and our thoughts are with them, especially at this time of year. The weather improves and those than can afford to run a car and bike dust off the 350cc that has been in the corner of the garage for the last 6 months and tear up A roads all over the country. There will be a fatality near you on the next warm weekend, and for no better reason that it is a sunny day"

Sgt. Private then read a eulogy to the skidded.

Spring
When daisies pied, and violets blue,
And safety helmets all silver-white,
And double lines of yellow hue
Do paint the meadows with delight,
The biker, on every tree,
Mocks car driving men, for thus sings he:
“crash
crash, crash!” O word of fear,
Unpleasing to a married ear.
