Cool! Thanks Svendo. The next time Mr B falls asleep with the remote tucked under his arm, I'll be doing just that.

Jeni B - You can watch all of Absolutely on 4od. I know this as I did it recently on one very bored weekend. it's still as good now as it was back then (IMHO), Mainly the Peter Baikie bits such as Denzil, and Frank Hovis.

Mr Hack - How did I forget about Humph? I got through 7 years of part time degree study holed up in my office listening to old ISIHAC episodes.

O, I know a chap who did that. Only he wired the front door knob to the mains

The policeman who called round to check on him (electroman hadn't turned up in the local for his lunchtime brown ale) got a massive shock and was flung down the front steps.

Absolutely was fantastic, I loved it too, and would quite like to see it again too, although it sounds as though I may be disappointed.

My step-mum was at Uni with Moray Hunter, she said his entire family was bonkers, they used to wire door knobs up to batteries so that visitors would receive a shock when they tried to open a door.
Very odd...

That's the chap! I didn't know he was in Absolutely. I remember finding him amusing late at night and then suddenly - pouff! - he vanished without a word of farewell to me his devoted viewer.

Douglas Adams. Goes without explanation I think. As does Bill Hicks.

In the early days of lots of channels on I think UK Play or something there was a showbiz news type crapfest hosted by a guy called Christopher Price, and though it was dire he was hilarious and I think could have gone on to be a seriously good comedian. As it was he died which isn't nearly as amusing.

OK then. Tommy Cooper. What do you need to say other than he was a total genius. Comedy, bad magic, funny hat.

Eric Morecombe - way ahead of his time. You just have to watch the Andre Previn sketch to see why he had some of the best comic timing ever.

Bill Hicks - Genius, King of the rant, King of the anti-corporate stick it to the man, not bothered about letterman and the tonight show, gave his act some heart. Would not give up doing stand-up to play the funny man in Rom-coms alongside Sandra Bullock.

Ronnie Barker - 2 words...Four Candles!

OK, I'm not really going up to god's place tonight, obviously. It's Monday and she'll be out at bingo.

So rather than generating a list of dead comedians, hows about letting me know why you think they should be allowed another go. I can't argue in their favour unless I'm fully clued in.

Besides I'm trying to create an interesting thread to encourage people to check out some of the lost gems that they may have missed.

It's all done in the best possible taste of course.

I'm thinking of popping round to the supreme deity's house in a bit (she lives up the road at No 42, where else?), to ask if we can have some of our best loved comedy frizbees back.

My top 3 demands will be:

Kenny Everett - A legend of irreverent silliness.
Frankie Howerd - Master of the saucy double entendre (ooh, no, don't)
Spike Milligan - no explanation required.

I'm taking orders, so if you have any to add to the list, let's have 'em.
