Old joke huh? I heard a great one the other day. I'll post it here if I can remember it. Something to do with chickens and roads.

Went to Whittlesey a couple of years ago as part of family tree research. Loved it because it was just so ordinary, and the people were so friendly, compared with here.

Great-great-great-great-grandfather and suceeding three generations were carpenters and or coffin makers/undertakers in Whittlesey, in a building near the Butter Cross.

It was like stepping back 20 years (in attitudes and style). And the people serving in one of the local shops looked like Snap, Crackle and Pop - clearly related but in some unspeakable way. And, have you ever driven through Turves? Think that film, the title of which has slipped my mind, with that actor with the moustache whose name I can't remember at the moment with the survival trip and bows and arrows and the hillbillies and "squeal piggy squeal".You know the one. I'll remember it in a minute.
Amazing thunder storms though, and ducks in the garden.
And it is quite flat now you mention it. When there's a rainbow, you can see both ends.
Deliverance, Burt Reynolds, that's it.

Why strange Chiggers? A bit flat? Spooky? Locals have six fingers?

Scientists reported today the possibility of greater genetic diversity in Fenland than had previously been believed to exist.

DNA evidence found at a crime scene in Chatteris, Cambridgeshire, belonged to a Caucasian sub-group normally found only in Essex.

The discovery comes at the same time as the discovery of a hitherto unknown surname on a headstone in a derelict churchyard near March, Cambridgeshire. Local genealogists were reportedly unaware of a fourth family group in the area.
