The criminal underworld was left reeling earlier today as news hit the streets that Government plans to introduce insurance cover for all breeds of dog could in theory apply to them too.
Fear soon spread amid rumours that other chav accesories such as drugs, stolen cars and firearms could also be targeted in some future crackdown.
There are suggestions that some chavs could give up a life of crime altogether as they struggled with their conscience, knowing that their pet dog might not be insured.
Postal workers are delighted at the news which they hope could lead to the reintroduction of the trouser once again.
Pet owners are concerned that this could lead to other categories being introduced to include all pets and in some extreme cases, wild animals found on their property too.
'We are all for it' said one government spokesman who cited a recent incident involving an old lady who was known to have swallowed a fly, they had no idea why she swallowed the fly and were concerned this this could have been a contributing factor in the ladies subsequent death, although the spider, bird, cat, dog, goat and cow could not be ruled out all together.
'Had this happened on the street we would have been facing legal action and compensation claims from the family.
'Do you know how easy it would be to accidently swallow a goldfish?' said the spokesman' and not only that but do you know how easy it would be to accidently swallow a goldfish?
Animal insurance is the only answer'.
