And this Lowry comparison is guff- at least he painted stuff. Tunick just turns up with a load of nude hippies and points a Kodak at them."</p> <p>Kate Farrell, The Lowry's curator of special exhibitions disagreed, and urged people to take part. </p> <p>She said: "This is a one-off chance to feature in an international artwork and to become part of a global network of Tunick participants. Well, it's a one-off unless you count all the other times Spencer has done this in the past. And if you ignore the times he will do it in the future as long as people like me pay him vast sums of money to jet around the world taking pictures a child with an instamatic could manage, given the opportunity".</p> <p>Whilst controversial within art circles, the report has won over hearts and minds with the man in the street.<br /> Steve White of Winnersh said that, whilst the photographs were eyecatching, "even if you squint really hard, you can't see any of the good bits. Why not just take a photo of one big person, rather than a big photo of lots of little people? You'd get to see it all then, and in my book <em>that</em> is art." </p>
