10th June 2010
Yellow Cards: 0 (of course! not played yet)
Sins: 2 (large Gin and Tonic and a spiced apple cake - v nice - but did extra laps and a few more lengths of the pool so maybe evened out at 1 sin)

Very sad but had to put the old blog out of it's misery as was attracting far too much spam comments, thought I would begin writing afresh to celebrate two wonderful occurrences; Colleen surprising me with the gift of an iPad (v exciting) before the flight and the impending theatre of the World Cup.

Plane journey could have been better had I not been seated next to Peter who kept kicking me when adjusting in his seat, seemingly every four minutes. Sorry Peter, but you did have the option of an isle seat and you can fidget monstrously. Still, was able to distract myself with Kieslowski's finest Trois couleurs Bleu - Juliette Binoche, sigh... must learn more French - have been v lazy with lessons of late. Steven was gently mocking by pretending to speak French and hopping from one foot to the other when we landed. Steven is v dull.

Rather forgot myself on the pitch this week and may have uttered a few expletives. Will not be repeating here I assure you! Always mortified by myself on the pitch at times like these, should learn to resist the urges to be quite so vocal but must admit I do enjoy the sudden release that accompanies a string a vulgarities. Also bad language does wind 'Aloysius' up wonderfully, and so is always worth expelling. Aloysius is a man lacking both a sense of humour and any semblance of a personality. Swearing makes us British, or English if you will, it is a guilty badge of pride. How time have changed!

Reading up on the form and thinking that a few guineas on the Germans would be a wise move - not gambling myself of course (except for Bridge which is going v well so far - £50 up I believe!) but you may take this tip yourself and make of it what you will.

Must dash!
