Thousands of refugees have fled back across the border into Syria following reports that Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall were on their way to visit them.
Refugee camps were said to be empty this morning after thousands of Syrians, desperate to get back to the shelling and mortar attacks being carried out by Government forces were spotted battling with UN officials trying to reach safety in the war-torn danger zone.
Children have been abandoned and families torn apart during the frenzied exodus back across the border as the prospect of meeting the Royal couple turned from slight improbability into harsh reality for thousands of Syrians already traumatised by two years of fighting and bloodshed.
Prince Charles was said to be highly critical of the food rations offered up by the various aid agencies, suggesting a packet of Duchy Originals and some water-cress from Waitrose would be far more beneficial to the starving refugees than a bowl of inorganic maize or a meagre helping of dried egg powder.
The Prince was also critical of Syrian children saying they would look so much smarter if they too wore a coloured handkerchief in the breast pocket of their blazer and took a little time out to polish their shoes.
(Anybody got any more stuff to add to it....I've got to go out)
