The UK's largest weapons manufacturer and dealer BAE Systems has blockaded the headquarters of the Stop The War Coalition in London, saying the group represents a very real threat to their freedom.

The coalition is pressuring the new Government, trying to get a commitment to withdraw troops from Afghanistan which the Farnborough-based planes-to-bombs firm says could lead to job losses.

"At the moment, ours is virtually the only business in the country that's actually doing well; our exports bring in billions of pounds a year to the UK, minus of course the money we hand out for incentives. Stopping the war will hurt british workers in their pockets. It'll also hurt the people who buy our products and take the incentives." Martin Braun, the firm's Director of Obfuscation told reporters on the barricade.

Speaking from inside the Coalition's offices on Vauxhall Bridge Road, Philomena Doyle said BAE was acting inhumanely.

"We've only got a day's supply of humus, falafels and Fairtrade coffee left. This blockade must be lifted now. If you thought Gaza was bad, try sitting in here with Troy; he's not using soap as part of a protest against palm oil and it's bloody hot in here!"
