As another two bodies were recovered today, investigators looking for motives behind the mass killings in Iraq and Afghanistan had say that the British Government had been suffering from ongoing hubris and incompetence.
This is a complex case and we still have hundreds of different crime scenes, but a picture is emerging of a government with living a fantasy life with ideas of grandeur and power and with absolutely no fear of going to prison.
At the same time, evidence is emerging of the frightening ease with which the government acquired the authority necessary for it undertake its rampage. It appears that it requires just one simple form, renewable every five years, countersigned by a minority of the population. People, quite rightly, are asking how such major actions could be taken on such a flimsy basis.
However, anyone looking for sensible changes to the legislation covering foreign military adventures is likely to be disappointed as the World Cup is on soon.
