Well, I liked it. I did wonder, when the Shiney One loomed onto my TV screen, exactly who was to benefit from the trip. Other than the 'hundred' captains of industry who had accompanied him.

Is it treasonable to have thought "How much damage would have been caused to the UK economy if the 'plane carrying all those important people had dived into the sea?"?

David Cameron has been on a 'top-up the tan' trip to India this week to try and build trade links between the two countries. He hopes that any increase in trade will help create jobs in the UK.

During his visit to a British utility company's call centre he told journalists 'we see India a a key partner in creating British jobs. This call centre for example employs 2000 people to take calls from Britain, but the automated voice that informs you of the importance of your call whilst your're on hold, she's from Surrey.'

'There are five more of these call centre in Mumbai all with the same policy' he continued. 'That's five more British jobs.' The rest of his visit will include a trip to a car factory that sells cars to Britain, a clothes factory that sells clothes to Britain and a horse farm that keeps its UK trade links close to its chest.

Denying the trip was a waste of time as all of these places could be based in the UK, Mr Cameron said people were missing the point. 'If these companies moved to the UK, thousands of people here would become unemployed and the need for British sounding automated answer phones would be gone. How could that possible benefit the UK?'
