Some good, angrily satirical lines in this I thought. Headline doesn't really match the story though.

As I mentioned in my comments on Dick Everyman's sub on the same topic, maybe include a dig at the uneasy three-way relationship between the Government, the Church and the gay community.

A number of leading Tory ministers have told David Cameron that destroying working class families by cutting benefits and throwing people on the scrap heap has received widespread support at grass-roots level within the party but they have urged the PM to think again about allowing gay marriage.
Many fear that allowing gay marriage is one piece of government legislation that hard core Tory voters might find unpalatable.
Senior Conservatives have warned that passing legislation or adopting policy that might be welcomed by the country as a whole is not necessarily a good thing if it risks damaging Tory chances of being re-elected in 2015
The UK electorate understands that lengthening dole queues, business failure and homelessness are the inevitable price to pay for voting in a Tory government but they (the electorate) are simply not prepared to see two people of the same sex allowed to marry.
Most homeless people agree that losing their family, their home and their job will be worth all the heartache and misery if it helps prevent two men from kissing one another up the aisle in their local church.
For many vulnerable people who have recently had their benefits cut it could mean the difference between life and death.
Although having recently lost his job and his marriage due to government cutbacks, 56 year old Jason Beesley from Gosport said hating gays was still the right thing to do and has made him think twice about taking his own life.
‘I realise that at my age I’m never likely to find another job. But hey....what does it matter as long as I live long enough to see this obscene gay marriage nonsense dropped’ said Jason from under the cardboard box that is now home to him and his two dogs.
‘Don’t get me wrong, I’ve got nothing against gays as such. It’s just that I can’t bear to think that two men could be kissing each other on the same spot I kissed my wife on our wedding day all those years ago. Marriage is an important institution and so is the church. It’s 30 years ago tomorrow and I’ll bet the old place hasn’t changed a bit.
And I just hope the vicar is as happy with my wife as I was for all those years'.
