Speaking in his broad Brummie accent, William Shakespeare has surprised his millions of fans around the world, by announcing he is writing a new play... fully four hundred years after The Tempest garnered rave reviews at the Globe Theatre. “The subject of the new play is Chris Huhne”, said the bard, “who fits the tragic template as a heroic man of destiny brought low by a character flaw: in his case, hubris.

"His willingness to sacrifice family members, to feed his vaulting ambition, makes him an ideal subject for a morality play. Here’s a man who decides, after ten years denying any wrongdoing, to fall on his sword... just before that same sword was going to be used in a very public and painful disemboweling scene.

“I plan on giving the cautionary tale of Macbeth another airing... with a few contemporary twists, of course. I might even wheel out the three witches for another cackle around the cauldron. Title? I’m toying with either The Revenge of the Shrew or The Merry Ex-Wife of Windsor”...

In answer to the question ‘Will there be any dick jokes?’, from the drama critic of the Sun, Shakespeare winked and said “There’s a scene in Act Two where Huhne bends down in the showers to pick up the soap. That got a lot of laughs at the read-through”...
