I believe you, it's just that a newspaper item would be unlikely to read:

"Their press release:-

"Gain momentum with a 2013 vehicle upgrade before 15th March ..."

Do you see what I mean?

Maybe something along the lines that "GVM issued a statement yesterday explaining ... "

Having said that I've had nothing but tickers on the 'front page' for many months so I may not be best placed to give guidance.

The writer gets 6 hours to edit her/his own work but have a look at the guidelines for writers

Feel free to edit, the press release is based word for word on a real one for some software, believe it or not.

Like the idea rogerg.
Might benefit from slapping about a tad; e.g. leading into the press release so it reads more like a news item

For many years people have compared Computer Software to cars, now the car manufacturers are biting back. Taking it's lead from major software giants such as Microsoft and Apple, General Vehicle Motors is the first major manufacturer to announce that all cars more than 5 years old are to be retired.

If your car was made in 2008 you have less than 2 months to upgrade before it stops working. Their press release:-

"Gain momentum with a 2013 vehicle upgrade before 15th March

It’s important to keep your vehicle up-to-date so that you can compete effectively and successfully. General Vehicle Motors is retiring all 2008 vehicles on 15th March. If you upgrade before, then you can get your 2013 vehicle at the upgrade price and benefit from the many enhanced features and functions that will greatly improve the way you drive.

Your old car will be safely and ecologically disposed of by the dealer.

After 15th March, a 2013 vehicle will only be available at the full retail price, no trade-ins! Your 2008 vehicle will also stop working that day."

Although not widely known until know, the engine management system contains a small bomb which will destroy the engine after exactly 5 years of use, regardless of how many miles the car has done. It is best not to be in the car at the end of it's life, or it may also be the end of yours.
