A clapped-out fridge has been invited by the BBC to appear on Question Time.

The unprecedented move to invite a white goods representative onto the show, is in response to BNP leader Nick Griffin's call for BNP supporters to raise money for the cash-strapped party by selling scrap metal and broken fridges. The party is believed to be a long way from being in the black.

'It's in the interests of balance and the right of reply', a BBC spokesman said. 'Mr Griffin has already appeared on Question Time'.

In a speech this week to his party's National Conference in Coventry, Mr Griffin said, 'People have been experimenting with scrap, it's great fun, something I've done in the past. Collecting broken fridges etc. Any idea of the price of copper? It's phenomenal.'

Traders in scrap metal and clapped-out fridges have reported an unprecedented fall in prices.
