Deep Space Industries have joined the race to reclaim precious metals from the decorated mouths of celebrities after pulling out of a venture to mine asteroids, which on reflection, were further away than first thought.

Many wealthy rappers and performers, such as Rihanna, have had teeth coated with gold and precious metals, and some have even had jewels impregnated into their skulls, Damian Hirst style, but with the opposite effect of decreasing face value. Other jewel encrusted objects include crowns, naturally occurring rocks, and some members of Parliament, who have their family jewels encrusted on their foreheads.

Some rappers have sets known as 'grills', a full set of solid gold nashers, believed to be useful for blinding enemy rappers in teeth glinting contests as they seek to prove their worth to potential mates. Other people with yellow teeth include smokers and people who have just eaten mustard, but their mate attracting prowess remains to be proven.

"It is interesting that these rappers have taken over the role of the elephant in society", said a leading anthropologist. "They have developed special teeth to battle rivals, and are now being hunted for them. With a bit more effort, I'm sure we can promote them to rank of endangered species."

Gold has been in short supply since money went digital, and with experts projecting only a few remaining Egyptian tombs left to be discovered, sources of new gold are few and far between. The remainder of the world's gold is thought to have been stolen from the film set of the Hobbit by fanatics, and is being stored in its original packaging for decades to increase its value.

Developing the required technology to extract the gold from the mouthy ores is a potential sticking point, but some have suggested that 'grabbing it while they aren't looking' may be a viable option for extraction.

Efforts will initially target 'high density golden celebrities', who have the most gold per square inch, with Bear Grills thought to be topping the hit list.
