I quite like the national snow-paranoia.

Its a bit like Granny insisting on tea made with leaves in a properly warmed, tea-cosied pot...its a little thing to everyone else, but important to her; a charming idiosyncracy for which we love her.

I wonder if other countries view our snow hyperexcitability the same...ah, bless little Britain, shitting their pants, paralysing the nation and rampaging to the slopes with fourteen layers and a sled at a dusting of powdery flakes

Maybe its purposeful misinformation propaganda...Cameron could just do with a Falklands war...what could the Argentinians have to fear from a nation that fails to cope in the slightest with annual moderate weather?

they'll be doing adverts in between the 'programmes' soon, showing their anchor presenters moving in slow-mo with hefty boots and down jackets - bringing you cutting edge first-hand eyewitness accounts of it being a bit horrid out there.

The "I'm standing in the snow" journalist on BBC News 24 this morning at 10am did a nice piece to camera about why there was a warning sign with a silhouette of a squirrel in shot behind him. (It was warning passing motorists not to run over the red squirrels.) I went into the shouting at the screen red button option and asked him to concentrate and give me the sodding weather forecast.

It's snow. It happens.

There's an ongoing situation in Algeria, the Middle-East as a whole is still extremely volatile yet the news is obsessed with a meteorological event.

I did hear a new cliché this year. Sorry, if it's new it can't be a cliché...

Anyway, "grit and determination" over scenes of people treating the roads. Not bad I thought.

Reporter standing outside in the snow. Just in case we don't know what snow looks like.

"This is the worst snow in this region since the winter of ..... 2010."

So more snow than in the last two or three years. I bet he goes home with the satisfaction of a journalist's job well done.
