The provenance doesn't sound very secure, Mr Hack. Surely turds aren't really auctioned, are they? I have never been to an auction, so I don't know about these things. Still, a Churchill stool sounds a bargain at any price.

Was it polished? Though any turd sale is likely to make someone stinking rich surely...

also reminds me of the ABBA turd in Priscilla Queen of the Desert. Worth some points for the last line.

Perhaps it's the reminder of Derek & Clive that I like about this idea. Am sure people would bid for one should it ever come to the surface, as it were.

A large turd, thought to have been left behind in a lavatory at the War Office by Sir Winston Churchill when he was wartime leader, fetched a staggering £1m at auction in New York earlier today.
The turd, or floater as they are sometimes called, had apparently defied all attempts to flush it away so had been abandoned and left in a cupboard for over 50 years until discovered by historian Guy De'Fey following a routine stock take.
Lot number 107, described in the catalogue as 'a big, fat jobbie, in perfect condition with no damage or repairs est $20-30' was bought by a delighted turd collector from Texas.
In the same auction a vintage Havanna cigar also fetched an amazing $35,000 ...a record price for a single cigar.
The proud buyer boasted 'of course I'm going to smoke the God damn thing....why you think I bought it you schmuck....now if I could just get the darn thing to light.....
