The threat of ending up in either Goole or Hull seems pretty inhumane but it would certainly slash reoffending rates

The prisons minister Jeremy Wright announced yesterday that in order to speed up the closure of 7 old damp prisons, they were to refit the ill fated Costa Concordia cruise ship as a floating prison. This would enable over 3000 prisoners to be relocated much more rapidly, and at less cost, than building a new super prison.

“Once we have swilled down the cabins a bit it will be a fine place to hold a variety of prisoners” said the Minister. “Hard cases and murderers will obviously be kept in the engine room, low level prisoners will be able to enjoy the fresh air on deck”.

The Costa Concordia is soon to be refloated and then towed to a mooring in the Humber estuary. It is believed that the location has been chosen as an additional incentive for prisoners to stay on the ship - even if they swim to shore they end up in either Goole or Hull.
