We don't do SKY in the Hat household, but bought 'Hunderby' DVD for xmas and just finished watching the series. It's very good, played totally straight and the comedy in almost all in the superb dialogue. Nighty Night was BBC (and excellent I think) , but the people that made that moved to SKY...

Yes DVO, a bit Jack the Rippery. It just doesn't feel polished, like a lot of the BBC output it's spoiled by some really amateurish moments. The dialogue really jars in places.

Think I've been spoiled by some of Sky's output lately: HBO and Sky Atlantic blow the BBC away at the moment. Shame the money goes to Murdoch but fuck it, at least I'm being entertained properly.

It takes place about a year afterwards and involves the detectives who worked on the ripper cases. The first episode was directly relevant to it but the remaining ones are just another excuse for a detective series but set in victorian times. I quite liked it but, yes, you have to suspend belief a bit but you do with most entertainment these days.
I sound like a grumpy old man ! .. Help !

What a big pile of plop. Looks great, but the acting is shit, the accents are bloody stupid and the music is completely inappropriate and distracting.

Didn't the BBC used to make good programmes? I'm sure I sort of remember watching some good TV in the old days.

Is it possible the BBC will rise again? Or is it now so massive and wasteful that it's doomed?
