I mean... too soon after lunch... </p> http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/topic.php?id=54025#post-155871 Tue, 01 Jan 2013 13:18:17 +0000 Dick Everyman 155871@http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/ <p>Norfolk Trading Standards has received a complaint from a Norwich consumer following the discovery of 20 cigarettes in a packet he purchased from his local NISA store.</p> <p>Matthew Arlington had expected to find a badly damaged set of lungs which were depicted on the front of the pack.</p> <p>“Imagine my disappointment after finding 20 cigarettes in place of the moist tumour I’d seen advertised on the front of the packet. I bought the tumour in good faith and was looking forward to a good fry-up and read of the Sunday paper.”</p> <p>After opening the packet Mr Arlington immediately returned to the shop and was offered a packet of pigs’ liver which was way past its sell by date in exchange. However, he decided to take his case further.</p> <p>A spokesman from Trading Standards confirmed that they had received a complaint from a local man and that they were looking into the matter. “Unfortunately this is not the first complaint we’ve received. Following a national television advertising campaign by the Department of Health dozens of consumers complained that their cigarettes are not growing tumours but instead are burning down to the filter as usual.” </p> <p>Mr Arlington is now waiting for a response from Trading Standards and intends to take his case to the European Court of Human Rights if necessary.</p> <p>“The whole experience has shattered my nerves. In fact I’ve since taken up smoking and vegetarianism. I can’t even look at a pair of badly damaged lungs anymore.”</p> <p>NISA store manageress, Liz Cooper said, "Confusing packaging is getting to be a bit of a problem for us. Last year we had people bringing back Easter Egg boxes because they found something edible inside them instead of the half kilo of plastic and cardboard they'd been expecting." </p>
