These higher wind levels rose throughout the night to an all time peak during the whole of Boxing day.</p> <p>Energy ministers within the UK government think that further development of this technology could work really well alongside their existing "dash for gas" energy policy. Early brainstorming has concluded there will probably be the need for a dual purpose mechanism to make the most efficient use of the technology. The reasons for this is that most wind farms are located in remote rural areas where there is no mains gas, therefore in these locations punters should just vent as per normal and the resultant increased wind will assist rotating the turbines. However in towns where there are no wind farms, there is generally a significant gas main infrastructure. It is therefore expected that residents in towns and cities wishing to opt in will have special "docking ports" installed within their homes so their gas can be fed directly into the gas grid.</p> <p>To help stimulate people to take up this ground breaking renewable technology in a similar way to the solar PV incentive scheme where a PV FIT (feed in tariff) is paid for all energy generated and fed back to the grid. It is hoped that the there may well be lucrative benefits on offer with the new "FIT for FARTS" scheme which could mean prolific flatulators could quite literally become stinking rich. </p>
