With unprecedated levels of rainfall predicted over the Christmas period, Buckingham Palace has urged britons to celebrate the end of the Royal jubilee year with street parties and parades.

Her Majesty has confirmed that she and her husband will take part in a spectacular Royal jubilee pageant along the river Thames from where she will deliver her Christmas speech at the traditional time of 2pm.

Millions of revellers are expected to witness the event, with the fountains in Trafalgar Square expected to be particularly popular with union-flag waving citizens.

'When we celebrated the jubilee during the summer we thought it might rain, and we were right, but we now have 100% positive confirmation of torrential precipitation on Christmas day, so we can guarantee all those celebrating a thorough soaking' said her Majesty 'And Prince Philip is particularly looking forward to a six hour boat procession along the river.'

Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the appalling weather will mean that, as usual, the Red Arrows will be unable to appear, and instead a fleet of miniature submarines will travel along The Mall with Special Boat Service personnel pouring red, white and blue paint out of the the rear turret.

After the celebrations the street parties will commence across the nation. Unlike most years, britons are not expected to complain that the turkey is 'A bit dry.'
