This year
s show has been the most succesful ever,` says Peter Holdsworth, organiser of the annual Chelsea Pensioners show.

Due to the fine weather we have seen a ten-fold increase in last year
s figures,
said a delighted Mr Holdsworth.
We were a little concerned that the introduction of ladies into the ranks of pensioners would put a few diehard members of the public off but this has not proved the case. Again the star of the show was the Octaganarian section in which Corporal Harry Wragg excelled with his plume of magnificent silver white hair which contrasted perfectly with his scarlet face and magnificent purple nose. Harry has been showing himself at the show for over twenty years and this is his tenth straight gold medal. When asked how he felt Harry said there were a few hairy moments when one of his team misplaced his gin bottle but he was glad it had all turned out okay in the end.
In the newcomers section Private Dennis Wilson won a well-deserved gold for his verdent handlebar moustache. Dennis said it was touch and go after a particularly wet spring had left his pride and joy in a very bedraggled state.
Luckily Matron gave me something which had it standing to attention in a matter of minutes,
said a relieved Dennis.
Once again the organisation of the show went like clockwork and as soon as the show closed and the pensioners were sold off to the eager public, who as always seemed delighted with their purchases, the team of workers set to and soon had the Hospital and Barracks razed to the ground.
