Alex Horne, the Chief Executive of the FA, carefully placed his spectacles on the tip of his nose and looked down through them condescendingly as he read his statement:</p> <p>“What Serbia has to realise is that this sort of openly racist behaviour is absolutely not on. If you do insist on being racist then take a leaf out of our book, and at least pretend to care.”</p> <p>“Launch ineffective and half-arsed schemes to combat it, and if possible turn alleged racist abuse into a tribal issue between rival football fans.”</p> <p>“Pretty soon you too will be proudly watching an unwavering bigot lead your country on an international stage.” </p>
