The only performers were those appearing from Police custody, either on a Court warrant or due to a new arrest. It was not uncommon for the Police to retain, for forensic examination, chummy's clothes and footwear. He (it was almost always 'he') would then appear in the dock wearing a one-piece boiler suit constructed of a strange paper material, not quite opaque &amp; only a tad stronger than the Daily Rag. If bail was granted chummy was then released into the community wearing the boiler suit and no shoes.
