The Jedi Council have again been rocked by scandal today following the death of a young woman in childbirth after she was prevented from terminating her pregnancy due to Jedi law.

Padme Amidala, a Senator from the planet Naboo, travelled to Polis Massa to give birth to twins in what should have been a routine procedure. However, she tragically died while giving birth following a combination of medical and prophetical complications.

Her husband, Darth Vader (nee Skywalker) was reported to be furious at the standard of treatment she received. "This is outrageous," he bellowed, pausing momentarily from using his mind to throttle the midwife responsible. "I knew for months that her life was at risk, but when she said she wanted a termination she was just told, "This is a Jedi planet. I'm afraid we can't do that." Is this the sort of treatment you expect to get in this galaxy in this day and age? Noooooooo!" he added.

In response to the growing concerns about outdated Jedi beliefs influencing the legislative decisions of planetary governments, Emperor Palpatine has commissioned a special Pro-Choice Space Medical Facility which would allow women living under restrictive Jedi regimes to travel to it and terminate their pregnancies without breaking the law on their home planets. However, anti-abortionist groups have already labelled this proposed medical facility as "A Death Star".

Despite this being the latest in a number of recent scandals for the Jedi, they have confirmed that they do not intend to change their hardline anti-abortion stance. "The will of the force all pregnancies are," said Yoda, former head of the Jedi Council. "Besides, if terminated Amidala's pregnancy was, only the first three shit Star Wars films would there be."
