http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/topic.php?id=51782 The NewsBiscuit Community en-US Wed, 19 Jun 2013 09:58:08 +0000 http://bbpress.org/?v=1.0.2 q http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/search.php http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/topic.php?id=51782#post-149003 Thu, 15 Nov 2012 23:24:49 +0000 Dick Everyman 149003@http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/ <p>Equity, the UK trade union that represents performers and other artistes working across the live and recorded entertainment industry, has opened its doors for people who perform exclusively with children.</p> <p>Once the union of choice for actors, choreographers, dancers, models and singers Equity now welcomes anyone who has been working with children for more than five decades in the entertainment industry.</p> <p>The new Equity off shoot, ‘Equipaed’ will be taking on new members from December 1st 2012 to cater mainly for Christmas Santas, children’s clowns and mobile DJ’s.</p> <p>A spokesman for Equity said, “Entertainers who believe they qualify to join Equipaed will need to show proof of engagements with children over the necessary five decade period and to produce evidence of their most recent conquests, er contracts.” </p> <p>Fred Cavendish, 58 otherwise known as Fiddler the Clown said, "I've grafted with kids now for over thirty years and know how to put a smile on their little faces. Equipaed membership will hopefully equip me to pursue my career and bring joy to future generations of children."</p> <p>Equipaed stipulates that entrance fees are required up front along with proof of more than one child-centred engagement. </p>
