The name of a well-known Tory MP was clearly visible on the list. Mr Cameron responded by warning against a witch-hunt, “particularly about people who drink poofy lager.”</p> <p>The list was said to have been compiled during a ‘cursory glance at the internet’ for details of a scandal relating to lager abuse in North Wales pubs during the 1970s and 1980s. The abuse is said to have involved cold, disgusting, tasteless rituals and it is alleged that the practice is directly linked to doner kebab consumption and wife-beating in the area.</p> <p>After the show went off air, Downing Street reacted with anger. Minister Without Portfolio and real ale fan Kenneth Clarke was scathing about the incident. “We are already taking serious action against effeminate lager drinkers, despite the costs involved in palate transplants,” he said. “But it’s important that we handle allegations properly, even those against stupid people that think beer should be full of chemicals and served cold enough to give you instant neuralgia.”</p> <p>Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg added his support to the PM. "It is our duty to protect all vulnerable people, and that includes those that have in the past been completely Fostered," he said. Later, after a few pints of London Pride at the House of Commons bar, he described the BBC as “a bunch of stupid stunts.”</p> <p>And Ms Reid issued an apology on behalf of the BBC, saying that she had not intended to accuse anyone of drinking fizzy piss, nor did she want to be part of any witch-hunt against nancy-boy lager-drinkers who think drinking out of vases is healthy. She claimed that she ‘just misjudged the CAMRA angle.’ </p>
