One was saying how he started off very gung-ho and never stayed in for the whole Washington "lets practice for armageddon" drills. Eventually they got him in there and went through the senarios, and he was so truely shocked at the potential devestation and loss of life (duhh!) that it was his turning point in talking with the Russians about disarming. It seems that was his "road to Damascus" moment.
