The Department of Transport has launched an investigation into First Great Western following allegations that they are attempting to massage their performance figures this weekend. A close examination of their 'special weekend timetable' reveals that there are two thousand trains running between 1:45am and 2:15am on Sunday.
A statement issued by First Great Western explained: "We are not worried about the investigation and particularly welcome the publicity that this will generate for our special 'Try and Fly' weekend. Customers will be able to try visiting a town and if they don't like it will be able to fly from it before they actually arrived thus leaving no memory of the experience. We have had to put on extra trains for the Slough service."
