But when you start playing international football, the first thing you learn is that you don't sing in tune."</p> <p>"That's because when you're staning alongside the Human Potato (Wayne Rooney) or David Beckham, the last thing you need is to be heard singing in tune. Part of the footballer's charm is his inability to sing; just look at Terry Venables or Kevin Keegan."</p> <p>Tonight, England coach Fabio Capello's calling for understanding over King's gaffe.</p> <p>"He's a sound singer" the coach says "but I'm sure I can convince him to sing out of tune by the time we get to South Africa."</p> <p>"After all, he'll be leading our fans singing in the opening game against the United States, because let's face it, he's not going to be on the pitch." </p>
