Cameron has actually played a blinder on Scotland, comprehensively out-manoeuvring Salmond. It doesn't matter what date it's on or if there's a fun teen vote, he just needed to ditch the 'we're going, but we're taking your money' option.

If Scotland vote yes, loads of labour MPs bite the bullet and England is financially better off. If they vote no, Cameron appears to defeat Salmond and severely weakens the SNP.

There is no bad result for Cameron. I'm pretty sure they have some excellent advisors.

It would be like being run by Mr Tumble from CBBC. I suspect all the fun would go out of him once he'd been handed the dossiers on Area 51 and Torchwood and knew that the Earth was living in an active balance of terror with a bunch of Alien PPI claims firms who will destroy the planet if he doesn't deliver them their quota of clients. I have difficulty sleeping at nights with that knowledge, mainly because the tin foil hat keeps making crinkling noises when I move.

Think it's after the next election, last one was May 2009 so even if they stay for the full 5, the referendum is in August of the same year.
There may still be hope, and Independence is not a certainty.

Have to say though, Boris as PM would never be boring.
Bonkers, but not boring.

"very, very, clever adviser".

And that's where it all falls apart. I see no sign of one now, and any they do apoint one they will be from Eton and have no idea how to work the self serve at Tesco, let alone Aldi's bagging policy. Even well off business types down here think the Tories are out of touch and wrong on policy. Is the Scots referendum before or after the next general election? If it's after then he looses Scotland but possibly wins the general due to ditching the Scots Labour vote. Agggg.

I predict a Boris, I predict a Boris, to paraphrase the Kaiser Chiefs.

Cameron weighing into the Independence debate by saying, effectively, that the Scots are too incapable of governing their own nation, was possibly the catalyst for many 'undecideds' to veer off towards a 'Yes' vote.

If he or any of his acolytes do campaign in 2014, they'd better have a very, very, clever adviser with them...

If the Tories sent Cameron, Mogg, Osbourne, and Mitchell on tour to Scotland in 2014, I think it would pretty much cause the end of the Union without Salmond speaking a word. Come to think of it, send them almost anywhere in the UK and I think only the home counties would be left. "Imagine a brogue, stamping on a human face - forever".

JR-M. What a joy to behold. One of the very few who'd be ahead of Osborne in the queue for a light disciplinary slap

When called upon by Newsnignt to defend the Tories from accusations of being too posh and out of touch over Osborne's train ticket and Andrew Mitchell, who ya gonna call? Jacob Rees-Mogg of course. They could not have found someone who seems posher and more condecending to do the interview. Talk about shooting yourself (one's self) in the foot, then in the other, then doing a kneecap for good measure.
