"Same rotten news again today, so I'm doing my bit, but I'm blowed if I can find somewhere to put this little lot. This will be a real challenge."</p> <p>Mr Boon has been following his gas company's advice for 5 years since buying his small flat in Thamesmead. Adding 6 inches of insulation every time the bills soar has kept his energy costs in check - but his furniture has had to go, due to pressure of space. "My loft room furniture went first, which was a shame as I'd only just had the loft converted. Then my first floor stuff, including the lodger. He went. At least I think he's gone. Hard to tell. And now my dining table, TV and most of the ground floor stuff. No room."</p> <p>What's also disconcerting is the fact that Mr Boon hasn't had a bath now for over a year. "I'm saving a bit on hot water - fair do's - but I wasn't getting wet because this stuff soaks it up like a giant sponge."</p> <p>Tonight, it looks like Mr Boon will be sleeping on the pavement for the first time. He reckons he can squeeze two of the rolls into his double oven but for the life of him he doesn't know where the other six will go.</p> <p>"It's ironic that I will probably be cold tonight. Yes, I can see the irony of that. I can see the funny side. But I'm not actually laughing because this stuff makes my skin itch like hell." </p>
