As leader of the Lib Dems, I must stand up for the party’s interests, and our view is that when confronted by burglars homeowners should give them a cup of coffee and invite them to loot at will.</p> <p>“Only this weekend I am inviting burglars into my home in Putney, offer them tea and Mr Kipling French Fancies, and encourage them to fill their bags with as much of my belongings as possible.” </p>
