Augusta National (the Masters tournament)just invited two women to become members. The world is going to hell in a handbasket.</p> <p>Although I am not that old (really, I'm not), I distinctly remember old men at the country club we belonged to in Virginia calling black men who worked there "boy". Vy. embarrassing, as we were originally from up North, where people were and are more subtle about race prejudice.</p> <p>Oh, and some years later, at a club in Des Moines, Iowa, some deluded person invited a family of black people to swim with them at the club pool. One black person in the water, everyone else out of the water. I guess they had not yet truly overcome.
