It was today revealed that the BBC, ITV and Sky are in the advanced planning stages for three General election quiz shows with the main party leaders in the run up to the 2015 general election. These will replace the discredited debates of 2010 and it is hoped will bring in a bigger audience.

The exact format of each show will be decided by each channel. A spokeswoman for the BBC denied that the favourite was “Would I lie to you” saying that the Corporation favoured something highbrow like Round Britain quiz or Mastermind.

Sky were unavailable for comment but “Cleverdicks” is believed to have been ruled out unless a replacement for Ann Widdecombe could be found to avoid accusations of bias.

ITV admitted that they are considering the “Goldenballs” format but insiders are believed to be pressing for this show to be kept for after the election in case no party has an overall majority.
