I like the prospect of wildcat eruptions. </p> http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/topic.php?id=4661#post-13050 Tue, 18 May 2010 11:34:08 +0000 steve_l 13050@http://newsbiscuit.com/forum/ <p>The lawyers at British Airways celebrated a second victory this week as their legal team successfully had a successful injunction against Iceland's Eyjafjoell volcano for erupting without following the correct process.</p> <p>According to laws laid down by the 1980s Conservative Government, following the Mount Saint Helens eruption, volcanoes are required to inform geologists months in advance through a series of small quakes and not erupt without warning spewing out massive quantities of lava and ash. Furthermore, secondary eruptions, in which small volcanoes erupt alongside the larger ones, are entirely forbidden.</p> <p>BA's lawyers sucessfully argued that the recent eruption did not follow the complete process, as only those geologists within 200 miles were notified; there were no larger earthquakes warning people in other countries of the plans to close down the North Atlantic airspace. The judge agreed and demanded that the volcano stop immediately.</p> <p>A spokesman for the legal team said "this injunction against the volcano should show all major geologic features that there is no support for them in a modern society, and that the only permitted eruptions are small ones which holidaymakers can visit, and even then, the eruptions must be announced far in advance." </p>
