"We had terrible problems with locating competitors at the Beijing Games, especially one Scot who decided he fancied a curry and we only found him 6 months later in Mumbai"</p> <p>Mayor of London Boris Johnson wished the competitors well and sent his regrets for not participating, but said "he would be with them in spirits as he is forced to watch some athletics on the telly" </p>
