I see everyone's on form.

Just back from work, knackered. Have to fetch daughter, cook dinner, water seedlings, hang washing and walk dog. Hope I don't confuse any of those.

Mr Bridge, I think you have conflated two parts of my message. I started by saying that 'we went to Gloucester...someone has to'. The 'it was all very pleasant' related to the meal with Master Munky and his wife. Nor were the words 'in the same sentence'.

I do hope you are not being a miserable old bastard. Much love, Plucky.

I was attacked by a patient who said I was 'getting lawyers to watch them'. I tried telling her that as I was only being paid £5.20 an hour the chances of my being able to afford lawyers were vanishingly rare, but she chinned me anyway.

I miss it too, Plucky. There's something wonderful about working with people who are living in a different reality. I miss the hospice more though because the biscuits were better and we had a coke machine.

When I was a charge nurse on the sensitively named 'security ward', I looked after a boy who came into my office and said: 'Plucky, I am having our baby!' I said, 'Christ, how did that happen?' He replied: 'It happened in space'.

I don't believe that what he said was true, though, as I have never been into space. Also, thankfully, I never had a baby. I miss those days.

I have to admit that I have yet to meet a man with a complex mind, Jeni. One's with egos, strong points of view and lots of confidence in their own ability, but not ones that are complex.

This reminds me of a sad case in which Mrs Munky looked after a woman at the mental hospital. She was convinced that her husband was turning into a Liquorice Allsort. No amount of reassurance would convince her that he wasn't (hence her being in a psychiatric hospital). The wonderous thing about human beings is that the more you study them, the odder they get.

Thanks Plucky, I do enjoy studying, and have always found the challenge exciting.

I do plan to practice once qualified, and am in the very lucky position of having a friend who is a Senior Partner in a local firm who has already offered me a place for my two-years legal practice, and a husband who spends thousands a year on legal advice (through business, not an illicit secret life), who could offer me a position as Company Legal eagle.

That's brilliant, Jeni! I am sure your old Course Leader will remember you and write you a reference. As you will know, too, because of possible legal complications, it is virtually impossible for anyone to write anything other than a very positive (if non-commital) reference. You will soon find the neurons firing up again! I've never seen any lack of action by them, on here!

Do you plan to practice law, afterwards?

Well done Plucky, perhaps there is hope for me after all. I have managed to track down my old Course Leader from College, and have sent him an email requesting a reference for my Uni application. If he remembers me, and I think he will, I can begin crossing everything and hoping that come September, I will be a new Law under-grad.

Good morning, Plucky, Jeni.

I'm just having a look down the back of the sofa to see if my brain's down there.
Nope. Just fluff, 5p and grandpa's teeth.

Been extra chaos in the Sauce hovel over the last couple of weeks: local young writer awards (anthologies [edit, print, spiral bind], certificates, prizes, cups, critiques of ALL the entered work). Ceremony was on Friday, went swimmingly (phew!!!): I am a chuffed old bat. Makes being in chardge of the shop until new full time manager appointed a doddle in comparison.

It does come back, Jeni. Honest. And all adult students who return to learning all have the same fears as you, in my experience. Also, I have found they generally make much better students than 18 year olds. Good luck with the course and don't forget to turn your mobile off. xxx

Please let us know if your brain does reform Plucky, as since I'm hoping to return to study this year, I'm hoping that it does. It's been 16 yrs since I was last a student, and I'm afraid that what little brain I had appears to have dribbled out of my ear over the intervening years.

Nice analogy by the way.

Me and Mrs Munky went to Gloucester, today, in a shower of rain. Someone has to, I suppose. We took Master Munky and his wife out for lunch and it was all very pleasant.

I have to see a student, tomorrow and start doing some 'work' again. My brain has turned to puree in the last few weeks. I hope it starts to solidify again. It feels as though what knowledge I had has been drained off, like the oil out of a 1972 Vauxhall Viva. Bless us all.
