'We've got to be honest, we aren't expecting the Scottish Haggis and Welsh Rarebit flavours to do very well after a couple of weeks, and the Irish Stew might be a bit of a let down too, but the rest of the range should do very nicely indeed.'</p> <p>A recent visitor to Walkers Leicester plant was former astronaut Buzz Aldrin, who was invited over to sample the current Flavour Cup range. 'As soon as I tried that American Cheeseburger flavour, I was back home,' said Aldrin during the tasting session. 'I made an offhand comment about them being better than the dried rations that NASA provided during the Apollo missions, and now Walkers have put me on the payroll to help them with their latest project. I've point-blank refused to try the French Garlic Bread flavour though -- those goddamn World War surrender-monkeys, we'll never forget that!'</p> <p>Early testing of Walkers' self-proclaimed 'completely new, revolutionary space-food' has received generally positive feedback, but it has also garnered some criticism. 'They do taste like the flavour they're supposed to be,' said one tester, 'but, to me, this so-called space-food just look like crisps which have been vacuum-packed into a toughened silver packet.'</p> <p>Walkers have denied that the product is a repackaged version of their usual lines. 'This is a completely new product, so there are some issues with texture still to resolve,' said Mr Soloman, 'It can be quite difficult making a decent chicken substitute out of deep-fried sliced potato so some people will inevitably find some comparison to crisps. We are working on new textures, particularly 'baked-not-fried' and 'crinkled', but it may take some time.'</p> <p>'We're confident that our foodstuffs will become 'de rigueur' for space travellers everywhere,' he continued. 'Next step is trialling potential space-desert flavours during London 2012 -- we think British Spotted Dick will be a grower, but as we're trying to make them out of a deep-fried potato base, there is a general worry that our Walkers Soufflé range will be as much of a flop as the games themselves.' </p>
