I was going to comment similarly, but didn't want to seem ungrateful. Needless to say, the Editors should watch their backs...

I think if you remove the reference to "hit-list" then the point of this piece sort of evaporates.

Smashing sub but felt the headline is a perhaps just a wee bit clunky and could be sharpened up a bit somehow?

New EU rule for opt-in hit-lists sees Assassins threaten to end it all.

(maybe? or something...erm dunno - I could just be talking bollocks. It has been known in the past)

Killer (ho-ho) last line in particular though! Brilliant! Stars for you. 5 of 'em *****

Hit-men, assassins and serial killers are united in condemnation of new European Union rules that went into effect at midnight making it illegal to add anyone from the EU to any kind of "hit-list" without their express consent.

With fines of up to 400 euros for repeat offenders, professional killers are claiming the added paperwork will push them over the edge. Mario, a retribution consultant from Sicily, gave his opinion of the new legislation - "It's terrible. First, we have to visit the client, explain that we would like to put them on our list and the reasons why. If they choose to accept, they still have a 28-day 'cooling off' period when they can request to be removed from the list. I always expected to be buried with the fishes, not in paperwork."
