Prince Philip’s second bout of sick leave in the last six months is set to trigger a formal Human Resources (HR) process Buckingham Palace has revealed.

Palace HR assistant, Bruce Semmens, confirmed: “when he cried off his Christmas shifts we accepted his excuse that he was undergoing major heart surgery. But here we are again, another bank holiday, and another last minute phone call saying he can’t make it in to work due to some hospital episode or other.”

Bruce confirmed that Prince Philip can expect a formal interview with his line manager, the Queen, on his return to work. Bruce continued: “we need to know if he was throwing a sickie and why. Maybe something’s not right at home or maybe there’s another reason for his poor sickness record. Ultimately Prince Philip needs to work out if he still wants to be part of the firm and ask himself where he sees himself in five years time.”
