Thanks for assorted comments chaps.

Yep Sinnick - I think you may be right. I wanted to get it posted yesterday at NiB length but might have benefited from a bit more thinking & a few linking words in newsie style. If I didn't have a bedroom wall to paint, a cupboard to shelve out and the family finances to juggle I might have tried to amend .........

Great idea, dvo, worthy of FP or NiB

Being objective about your sub, I think it could flow a little easier and be a bit more "newsie" in style. There are 3 good points, but they don't really link together smoothly.

I couldn't do better myself, obviously.

Beautiful. I cant remember who said it, although no doubt it has been said by a few, there is no such thing as 24 hour news, just 15 minutes of news repeated.

The last big occasion where they had to fill for most of the day, repeating the same shit, waiting for the main event was the Raoul Moat standoff. Will this jubilee thing end the same way

Many many stars

A post of such majestic grandeur, such truly royal qualities, we are unlikely ever to see its like in our lifetime. But one thing is certain. Those who came to our great Biscuit to witness this most accurate and observant of posts, marking a special day in the history of this land we call Eng, will surely tell their children if not their grandchildren of the day the Queen's English bancrupted itself of words equal to the task of describing the events this day.

Wall to wall coverage of the Queen’s Jubilee Thames Flotilla has run down the BBC’s useable stock of vacuous comments. Much commentary was by News24 staff, trained in the art of high-volume repetition and ... speaking ... nonsense ... and ... bollocks ... very ... slowly about not ... very ... much ... at ... all.

Unfortunately, even experienced hands like the legendary Matthew Amroliwala, who's arborial delivery leads many first-time News24 viewers to assume he's just had a stroke, fell by the wayside under the torrent of nothingness upon which they were obliged to comment. The reporter casualty-rate meant some Olympic reporters had to be drafted in as late substitutes.

'Some historic, iconic words, such as ‘historic' and ‘iconic' are suffering from repetitive strain injury and are in serious doubt as starters for the historic, iconic summer games – ouch!” said Head of BBC Sport John Roberts this afternoon.
