A 42 year old woman was left ‘distraught’ after Gok Wan failed to live up to the promise of his Channel 4 programme ‘How to Look Good Naked.’

Five foot tall Julie Minns, who admits to being “slightly tubby” at 15 stone, had her dreams of appearing in the reality television spotlight dashed after the fashion guru called a halt after just 3 days of filming admitting that there was nothing more he could do for her.

“Don’t get me wrong,’ said Julie between sobs, ‘Gok is wonderful fella, and he tried his vey best but I could see that his heart wasn’t in it from the moment he caught sight of me in my underwear. He tried to praise my ‘bangers’ but seemed distracted by my lack of height or perhaps it was my underarm hair. I guess he didn’t fancy me as some of the other women who have appeared on his show.”

Julie’s rejection by Gok Wan is the latest in a series of setbacks for the Chelmsford receptionist for whom appearing on primetime television has been a personal quest for nearly ten years. “I started out by applying to appear on ‘What Not to Wear’. Although I didn’t get onto the show itself, Trinny and Susannah criticised my bra at the audition so it all seemed worthwhile.”

Encouraged by this experience Julie was then accepted for ‘You Are What You Eat’, however filming was cancelled when the presenter, nutritionist Dr Gillian McKeith, was struck down with food poisoning.

“Then I turned to comfort food” continued Julie, “but ‘Ready Steady Cook’ turned me down. It’s odd really. The show only features thin people, not those who really love food.”

Julie admitted that she benefitted from the counselling offered by Channel 4 and was trying to be philosophical. So is this the end of Julie’s reality show odyssey? “Of course not,” she said defiantly. “I’ve rather neglected the housekeeping over the last few months. If I can keep this up, I may contact Kim and Aggie from ‘How clean is your house?”
