For years I’ve had people laughing openly to my face while I try and explain what I do, while occasionally punching me. It’s good to know that all that humiliation and violence was worth it.’</p> <p>Keith Dixon, a director at Infotrica was equally delighted, ‘We are all thrilled for Derek. He is one of the most stultifying dull human beings I’ve ever had the misfortune to employ and he truly deserves this award. It really couldn’t have happened to a more uninspiring person.’</p> <p>Sally Hughes, on the judges of the award commented, ‘This has been a truly vintage year. In these difficult times, it’s incredibly reassuring to know that there are still millions of people out there in the UK doing pointless and unfathomable jobs. That’s good news for us all.’</p> <p>Mr Hill wins a £15 gift voucher for Maplin Electronics and the chance to compete for the prestigious ‘Palme d’Excrement’ at this year’s Cannes Festival of Futile Occupations. </p>
