There were further charges relating to the making up of things entirely, the destruction of seven boxes of important and well researched news stories which were never published, and one final charge of blatantly and consistently insulting the nation's intelligence.</p> <p>A statement released jointly by Mrs. Brooks and her husband contained some harsh words for the CPS,</p> <p>"We deplore this weak and unjust decision. We would ask the press not to indulge in any speculation regarding our alleged involvement in criminal activity, and to not gloat over the very real prospect that I and my husband may be sent to prison. We would also ask them to refrain from plastering such salacious tittle-tattle all over their front pages as that would be extremely hurtful to us at this difficult time." </p>
